Reopening Information
We’re continuing our break with the Nightshade series to bring you news of our reOpening Reunion! After all the news below please continue scrolling to the recipe included. My favorite warm day treat is yummo and good for you!
While it’s official NYC is on schedule to reOpen next week with Phase 3 we are continuing with our holiday week and meeting next week to warm up our massage making muscles and discuss details for our pandemic way of life operations.
Here’s what we already do and will continue to do to ensure the safety of clients and ourselves:
We wash our hands with soap and water as soon as we remove our shoes and shed our outside wear when we enter the office.
We change into our work clothes so we don’t bring our homes and outside transportation with us into our work space.
We’re mindful of touching our face. Afterwards, we wash our hands before touching anything else in the office.
We always change the linens between sessions. Without exception. All office linens and work clothes are laundered off site professionally in perfume- and dye-free detergent.
We wash our hands and arms past our elbows with soap and water before AND after every session.
We refrain from touching anything directly after scrubbing in until we make contact with you for your session. This means we use the disposable paper towels that we use to dry our washed selves to open and close the door, adjust the light intensity and music volume when we enter our treatment areas.
We always wash the bottle containing our massage medium in between sessions.
Our heating and cooling system, which runs year round while we’re in session, has filters built in.
For our current situation here’s what’s new:
As mandated by NYS Forward Phase 3 guidelines everyone is required to wear a mask when entering the office and during treatment. If you don’t have a comfortable mask we will provide one for you. (This latter is relative. Reference pic.)
As mandated by NYS Forward Phase 3 guidelines we will be wearing fancy PPE gear when interacting with you in person. Including but not limited to what I’m wearing in the pic:
We’ll be requesting everyone to wash their hands when they come into the office. There will be a sign on how to do so because reminders are good. Please look for it next time you’re in. The sign is made special by The Lumineers.
We are temporarily suspending credit card swiping for the foreseeable future. All purchase transactions will happen via manual entry unless the credit card we have on file for you is up to date.
Like our massage tables our armchairs will be covered in linens for one time client use, then laundered.
We will be disinfecting high touch surfaces, at minimum daily, with either Clorox wipes or disinfectant spray approved by the EPA.
We will be inquiring as to whether you’ve had Covid-like symptoms recently.
Our 24 hour cancellation policy is still in effect. Please notify us as soon as possible if you cannot attend your appointment. We are here for you and wish to work with you but please stay home if you’re not feeling well. If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice you will be held responsible for the full session price.
More reOpening Reunion information to come next week!
Now let’s take a break with Strawberry Banana n’Ice Cream that’s dairy free and doesn’t require an ice cream maker. All you need is frozen strawberries and banana and either a food processor or blender.
Puréed frozen bananas have a wonderfully creamy texture. The riper the banana the sweeter the n’ice cream. Or if you can’t wait for the banana to get ripe enough then you can add honey, agave or maple syrup to the puree. When I notice my bananas getting too ripe for my taste of everyday consumption I put them into the freezer, peel and all. It makes for frozen fingers when peeling them to make this treat so the other option is, before you freeze the bananas, to peel them, cut into chunks and store in an airtight container.
I make this in my mini 3 cup food processor. I find it’s hard to get it smooth in my 8 cup food processor but if that’s all you have then make a bigger batch and store the extra for later. . . . or now! I haven’t tried this in my blender yet. To store: I find this freezes well but to reduce ice crystal formation, puree or blend the fruits with a ½ to 1 teaspoon of gelatin or the vegan option, agar. This can be served immediately as a soft serve but if you like scoopable n’ice cream then put it in an airtight storage container into the freezer for a couple of hours.
Strawberry Banana Ice Cream
Tools:
Food processor or blender
Ingredients:
1 very ripe banana peeled, cut into chunks and frozen
110 g (¾ C) of frozen strawberries
Instructions:
Place the strawberries and banana in the food processor or blender and pulse until smooth. Scrape down the sides as necessary
Serve immediately as soft serve or freeze in an airtight container for a couple of hours for a firmer consistency.
The possibilities are endless. Any frozen berries will do. If I don’t have frozen berries I’ll add chocolate or cocoa powder instead. For Adam I’ll add chocolate and peanut butter for all around deliciousness. Enjoy!
